WVTF RADIO IQ

The big switch.

Until recently, you've listened to our network of stations on two services: WVTF, which aired news programming in the morning and evening and music during the day and overnight, and our all-talk RADIO IQ.

We've heard from a lot of our listeners over the years about how this current format works for them - and are adjusting based on those requests. On July 10thWVTF became WVTF Music and RADIO IQ is now our sole news service.

This transformation will affect some of our listening region. Hopefully, all of your questions and concerns will be addressed on this site.

What
happened?

In direct response to our region’s listening tendencies, WVTF and RADIO IQ swapped a number of radio signals, expanding our capacity to be Virginia’s premiere multi-platform resource for news, information, and music.

This resulted in a drastic increase in the reach of RADIO IQ’s news programming from NPR as well as the station’s national award winning in-house staff of journalists covering the Commonwealth of Virginia.

WVTF’s mixed format of news and music transitioned to WVTF Music to better serve our Classical, Jazz, Americana, and Bluegrass listeners who prefer the option of continuous music programming.

Stations once carrying WVTF (music during the day) are now carrying all-news RADIO IQ programming.
